DSTA President’s Letter

Year in Review and 2011 Holiday Party

November 1, 2011

Dear fellow members,

As many of you know, it has been a very busy and fulfilling year for those in the Dallas Security Traders Association. Before I highlight some of the more memorable activities and accomplishments, I want to personally invite all of you to our annual Holiday Party. Like the past few years, the 2011 Holiday Party will take place from 4pm – 7pm on Thursday December 1st at:

Mattito’s Café Mexicano – 3011 Routh Street, Dallas, TX 75201

Please plan on attending as we will vote on the 2012 slate for the DSTA executive board. Additionally, if any of you would like to become more involved in the DSTA and have interest in learning about joining the board or directors, please contact me.

As I mentioned, we have had a busy year! Here are just a few of the events we hosted:

  • March Madness Happy Hour
  • Spring Membership Drive – Top Golf/Poker Tournament
  • DSTA Night at the Frisco Roughriders
  • Dinner at the Ronald McDonald House
  • 2011 DSTA Annual Conference at the Four Seasons Las Colinas

We, as your board, work hard throughout the year to secure funding to not only host events for our members, but we also specifically aim to give back as much as possible through charitable giving. This year, DSTA has donated more than $45,000 to the organizations listed below. Additionally, we awarded two separate $8,000 four year scholarships to a pair of deserving graduating seniors.

2011 CHARITABLE GIVING -

The 9-11 Memorial Foundation of Texas, St. Jude, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Kenna’s Kids, Seed Effect, The Down Syndrome Partnership of Tarrant County, Helping Hands, Relay For Life, Rainbow Days, Children’s Medical Center, Louisiana Horse Rescue, The Fisher House, and The Alzheimer’s Association- Greater Dallas Chapter.

As our industry continues to change, now more than ever it is important to network and stay connected with each other locally. In addition, our Dallas affiliate has a strong voice nationally. Two of our past DSTA Presidents were recently elected to positions on the Security Traders Association National Board. Alan Marshall was elected to serve as an STA Governor and John Daley was elected to the STA Executive Board as the 2012 Treasurer.

I look forward to seeing you at the Holiday Party and thank you for your participation in the DSTA. It’s been my pleasure and honor to serve as your President for 2011, and I know that the executive board and strong current board members will continue our positive momentum long into the future.
